5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
5:1 그러므로 그리스도께서 우리를 자유케 하셨으니 자유 안에 굳게 서서 다시는 종의 멍에를 메지 말라.

5:2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
5:2 보라, 나 바울이 너희에게 말하노니, 만일 너희가 할례를 받으면 그리스도께서 너희에게 아무 유익이 되지 못하리라.

5:3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
5:3 내가 할례받은 모든 사람에게 다시 증거하노니 그는 온 율법을 행할 의무가 있는 자라.

5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
5:4 율법으로 의롭게 된 너희는 누구든지 그리스도가 무용하게 되고 은혜로부터는 떨어져 나갔느니라.

5:5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
5:5 이는 우리가 성령을 통하여 믿음으로 말미암아 의의 소망을 기다림이라.

5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
5:6 예수 그리스도 안에서는 할례나 무할례가 쓸모없고 오직 사랑으로 역사하는 믿음뿐이니라.

5:7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?
5:7 너희가 잘 달려가고 있더니 누가 너희를 진리에 순종하지 못하도록 막더냐?

5:8 This persuasion [cometh] not of him that calleth you.
5:8 이러한 권면은 너희를 부르시는 이에게서 나온 것이 아니니라.

5:9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.
5:9 적은 누룩이 온 반죽을 부풀게 하느니라.

5:10 I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be.
5:10 나는 너희가 조금도 다른 마음을 지니지 아니하리라는 것을 주를 통하여 너희 안에서 확신하노라. 따라서 너희를 혼란시키는 자는 그가 누구든지 심판을 받으리라.

5:11 And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.
5:11 그러나 형제들아, 만일 내가 지금껏 할례를 전한다면 어찌하여 아직도 박해를 받겠느냐? 그랬더라면 십자가의 거침이 그쳤으리라.

5:12 I would they were even cut off which trouble you.
5:12 너희를 혼란케 하는 자들이 그들 스스로 베어져 버리기를 나는 원하노라.

5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only [use] not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
5:13 형제들아, 너희가 자유에로 부름을 받았으니 그 자유를 육신을 위한 계기로 삼지 말고 사랑으로 서로 섬기라.

5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, [even] in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
5:14 온 율법이 한 마디 말, 즉 이 말로 이루어졌으니 "네 이웃을 네 자신과 같이 사랑하라."는 것이라.

5:15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
5:15 그러나 만일 너희가 서로 물어 뜯고 삼킨다면 서로 멸망하지 않도록 주의하라.

5:16 [This] I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
5:16 내가 이것을 말하노니 성령 안에서 행하라. 그리하면 너희는 육신의 정욕을 이루지 아니하리라.

5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
5:17 육신은 성령을 거슬러 욕심을 부리며 성령은 육신을 거스리나니, 이들은 서로 반목하여서 너희가 하고자 하는 것을 하지 못하게 하느니라.

5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
5:18 그러나 너희가 성령의 인도하심을 받는다면 너희는 율법 아래 있지 아니하느니라.

5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
5:19 이제 육신의 일들은 분명히 나타나나니, 곧 간음과 음행과 더러운 것과 음욕과

5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
5:20 우상 숭배와 마술과 원수 맺음과 다툼과 질투와 분노와 투쟁과 분열과 이단들과

5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told [you] in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
5:21 시기와 살인과 술 취함과 흥청거림과 또 그와 같은 것들이라. 내가 전에 말한 바와 같이 미리 말하노니, 그런 짓들을 하는 자들은 하나님의 나라를 상속받지 못할 것이라.

5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
5:22 그러나 성령의 열매는 사랑과 희락과 화평과 오래 참음과 친절과 선함과 믿음과

5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
5:23 온유와 절제니 그러한 것을 반대할 법이 없느니라.

5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
5:24 그리스도께 속한 사람들은 그 육신을 애정과 정욕과 함께 십자가에 처형하였느니라.

5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
5:25 만일 우리가 성령 안에서 산다면 또한 성령 안에서 행하자.

5:26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
5:26 서로 격분시키고 서로 시기함으로써 헛된 영광을 구하지 말자.
