12:1 In the seventh year of Jehu Jehoash began to reign; and forty years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother's name [was] Zibiah of Beersheba.
12:1 예후 제 칠년에 여호아스가 치리하기 시작하여 예루살렘에서 사십 년을 치리하였더라. 그의 어머니의 이름은 브엘세바 태생의 시비아라.
12:2 And Jehoash did [that which was] right in the sight of the LORD all his days wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him.
12:2 여호아스는 제사장 여호야다가 자기에게 가르쳐 준 대로 그의 평생 동안 주의 목전에서 옳은 일을 행하였더라.
12:3 But the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.
12:3 그러나 그가 산당들은 제거하지 아니하였으니, 백성이 계속해서 산당들에서 제사하고 분향하였더라.
12:4 And Jehoash said to the priests, All the money of the dedicated things that is brought into the house of the LORD, [even] the money of every one that passeth [the account], the money that every man is set at, [and] all the money that cometh into any man's heart to bring into the house of the LORD,
12:4 여호아스가 제사장들에게 말하기를 "주의 전으로 가져온 헌물 중에서 모든 돈, 즉 계수를 통과하는 모든 자의 돈과, 각자에게 정해진 돈과, 자원하여 주의 전에 가져오는 모든 돈을
12:5 Let the priests take [it] to them, every man of his acquaintance: and let them repair the breaches of the house, wheresoever any breach shall be found.
12:5 제사장들은 각자 자기의 아는 자들에게서 걷어 전의 훼손된 부분이 보이면 그 돈으로 그 훼손된 부분을 고칠지니라." 하니라.
12:6 But it was [so, that] in the three and twentieth year of king Jehoash the priests had not repaired the breaches of the house.
12:6 그러나 여호아스왕의 이십삼 년 동안 제사장들이 전의 훼손 부분을 수리하지 아니하고 그대로 둔지라,
12:7 Then king Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and the [other] priests, and said unto them, Why repair ye not the breaches of the house? now therefore receive no [more] money of your acquaintance, but deliver it for the breaches of the house.
12:7 이에 여호아스왕이 제사장 여호야다와 다른 제사장들을 불러 그들에게 말하기를 "어찌하여 너희는 전의 훼손된 부분들을 수리하지 아니하느냐? 그러므로 이제 너희가 아는 자들에게서 더이상 돈을 받지 말고, 전의 훼손된 부분들을 위하여 넘기라." 하니
12:8 And the priests consented to receive no [more] money of the people, neither to repair the breaches of the house.
12:8 제사장들이 백성들에게서 더이상 돈을 받지 아니하고 전의 훼손 부분을 수리하지도 않기로 동의하더라.
12:9 But Jehoiada the priest took a chest, and bored a hole in the lid of it, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one cometh into the house of the LORD: and the priests that kept the door put therein all the money [that was] brought into the house of the LORD.
12:9 그러나 제사장 여호야다가 큰 나무 상자를 가져다가 그 뚜껑에 구멍을 뚫어 제단 옆 사람들이 주의 전으로 들어오는 오른편에 두니, 문을 지키는 제사장들이 주의 전으로 가져오는 모든 돈을 거기에 넣으니라.
12:10 And it was [so], when they saw that [there was] much money in the chest, that the king's scribe and the high priest came up, and they put up in bags, and told the money that was found in the house of the LORD.
12:10 그리하여 그들이 그 상자 안에 많은 돈이 있는 것을 보면 왕의 서기관과 대제사장이 올라와서 주의 전에서 얻은 돈을 자루에 넣어 세고
12:11 And they gave the money, being told, into the hands of them that did the work, that had the oversight of the house of the LORD: and they laid it out to the carpenters and builders, that wrought upon the house of the LORD,
12:11 그리고 그들이 계수한 돈을 일하는 자들, 즉 주의 전을 돌보는 자들의 손에 주고, 주의 전을 수리하는 목수들과 건축자들에게도 주고,
12:12 And to masons, and hewers of stone, and to buy timber and hewed stone to repair the breaches of the house of the LORD, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair [it].
12:12 또 돌 쌓는 자들과 돌 깎는 자들에게도 주어 주의 전의 훼손된 부분들을 수리할 재목과 다듬은 돌을 사게 하였으며, 그 전을 수리하는 데 필요한 모든 것을 위하여 주었더라.
12:13 Howbeit there were not made for the house of the LORD bowls of silver, snuffers, basons, trumpets, any vessels of gold, or vessels of silver, of the money [that was] brought into the house of the LORD:
12:13 그러나 주의 전에 쓰일 은그릇이나 부집게나 대야나 나팔이나 어떤 금그릇이나 은그릇들은 주의 전으로 가져온 돈으로 만들지 아니하였으니
12:14 But they gave that to the workmen, and repaired therewith the house of the LORD.
12:14 그들이 그 돈을 오직 일꾼들에게 주어 주의 전을 수리하였더라.
12:15 Moreover they reckoned not with the men, into whose hand they delivered the money to be bestowed on workmen: for they dealt faithfully.
12:15 또 그들은 일꾼들에게 지급하도록 돈을 넘겨준 사람들과 계산하지 아니하였으니, 이는 그들이 신실하게 일하였음이라.
12:16 The trespass money and sin money was not brought into the house of the LORD: it was the priests'.
12:16 속건제 돈과 속죄제 돈은 주의 전에 가져가지 아니하였으니, 그것은 제사장들의 것이었더라.
12:17 Then Hazael king of Syria went up, and fought against Gath, and took it: and Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem.
12:17 그때 시리아의 하사엘왕이 올라가서 가드와 싸워 그 곳을 취하였고, 또 그의 얼굴을 돌려 예루살렘으로 올라가니라.
12:18 And Jehoash king of Judah took all the hallowed things that Jehoshaphat, and Jehoram, and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own hallowed things, and all the gold [that was] found in the treasures of the house of the LORD, and in the king's house, and sent [it] to Hazael king of Syria: and he went away from Jerusalem.
12:18 이에 유다의 여호아스왕이 그의 조상들인 유다 왕들 여호사밧과 여호람과 아하시야가 바친 모든 거룩케 한 것들과, 자기가 거룩케 한 것들과, 주의 전의 보물창고와 왕궁에 있는 모든 금을 취하여 시리아의 하사엘왕에게 보내었으니, 하사엘이 예루살렘에서부터 떠나갔더라.
12:19 And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, [are] they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
12:19 요아스의 나머지 행적과 그가 행한 모든 것이 유다 왕들의 역대서에 기록되어 있지 아니하냐?
12:20 And his servants arose, and made a conspiracy, and slew Joash in the house of Millo, which goeth down to Silla.
12:20 그의 신하들이 일어나서 모반하여 실라로 내려가는 곳에 있는 밀로 궁에서 요아스를 죽였으니
12:21 For Jozachar the son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, smote him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Amaziah his son reigned in his stead.
12:21 그의 신하들인 시므앗의 아들 요사칼과 소멜의 아들 여호사밧이 그를 쳤더라. 그가 죽자 사람들이 그를 그의 조상들과 함께 다윗 성읍에 장사하였으며, 그의 아들 아마샤가 그를 대신하여 왕이 되니라.

12:6 그러나 여호아스왕의 이십삼 년 동안 제사장들이 전의 훼손 부분을 수리하지 아니하고 그대로 둔지라,
12:7 Then king Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and the [other] priests, and said unto them, Why repair ye not the breaches of the house? now therefore receive no [more] money of your acquaintance, but deliver it for the breaches of the house.

12:8 제사장들이 백성들에게서 더이상 돈을 받지 아니하고 전의 훼손 부분을 수리하지도 않기로 동의하더라.
