38:1 {A Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance.} O LORD, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
38:1 A Psalm of David. T bring to remembrance. O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your wrath, Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure!
38:2 For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore.
38:2 For Your arrows pierce me deeply, And Your hand presses me down.
38:3 [There is] no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither [is there any] rest in my bones because of my sin.
38:3 There is no soundness in my flesh Because of Your anger, Nor any health in my bones Because of my sin.
38:4 For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
38:4 For my iniquities have gone over my head; Like a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
38:5 My wounds stink [and] are corrupt because of my foolishness.
38:5 My wounds are foul and festering Because of my foolishness.
38:6 I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.

38:7 For my loins are filled with a loathsome [disease]: and [there is] no soundness in my flesh.

38:8 I am feeble and sore broken: I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart.
38:8 I am feeble and severely broken; I groan because of the turmoil of my heart.
38:9 Lord, all my desire [is] before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee.
38:9 Lord, all my desire is before You; And my sighing is not hidden from You.
38:10 My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.
38:10 My heart pants, my strength fails me; As for the light of my eyes, it also has gone from me.
38:11 My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen stand afar off.
38:11 My loved ones and my friends stand aloof from my plague, And my relatives stand afar off.
38:12 They also that seek after my life lay snares [for me]: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.
38:12 Those also who seek my life lay snares for me; Those who seek my hurt speak of destruction, And plan deception all the day long.
38:13 But I, as a deaf [man], heard not; and [I was] as a dumb man [that] openeth not his mouth.
38:13 But I, like a deaf man, do not hear; And I am like a mute who does not open his mouth.
38:14 Thus I was as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth [are] no reproofs.
38:14 Thus I am like a man who does not hear, And in whose mouth is no response.
38:15 For in thee, O LORD, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.
38:15 For in You, O LORD, I hope; You will hear, O Lord my God.
38:16 For I said, [Hear me], lest [otherwise] they should rejoice over me: when my foot slippeth, they magnify [themselves] against me.
38:16 For I said, "Hear me, lest they rejoice over me, Lest, when my foot slips, they exalt themselves against me."
38:17 For I [am] ready to halt, and my sorrow [is] continually before me.
38:17 For I am ready to fall, And my sorrow is continually before me.
38:18 For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.
38:18 For I will declare my iniquity; I will be in anguish over my sin.
38:19 But mine enemies [are] lively, [and] they are strong: and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.
38:19 But my enemies are vigorous, and they are strong; And those who hate me wrongfully have multiplied.
38:20 They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; because I follow [the thing that] good [is].
38:20 Those also who render evil for good, They are my adversaries, because I follow what is good.
38:21 Forsake me not, O LORD: O my God, be not far from me.

38:22 Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.
